SL2609 Jean Dubost 4 Kitchen Knives Oak in Leather Case

The Jean Dubost brand is traditionally known as the manufacturer of Laguiole steak knives. Today, numerous other items are available, such as this French oak kitchen knife set. These are timeless models, and production began in 1920. They were so popular that virtually nothing has changed in the design or the materials used since then.

  • Blade made of AISI 420 stainless steel
  • Handle made of sustainably produced European oak with FSC quality mark
  • Steel thickness 1.5 - 2.5 mm
  • 100% made in France (Jean Dubost, since 1920)

Technical information handle:

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is a quality mark for 100% sustainably produced wood from responsibly managed forests. The wood comes from the oak, a European deciduous tree. It's an incredibly strong, popular hardwood with a light brown color and varied grain.

Technical information blade:

AISI 420 is a strong stainless steel to which carbon has been added in addition to chromium. This steel is less easily bent and is very suitable for knife making. Heat treatment hardens this steel (HRC52/56), which means the cutting edge is less likely to be damaged and stays sharper for longer. It is also highly resistant to rust formation.

HRC52/56 is the standard used to indicate the hardness of steel. This type of steel is less susceptible to breaking and rust formation.

Food safety

This product is produced in Europe and meets the highest safety requirements.

About Laguiole Jean Dubost

The Jean Dubost family business was founded in 1920. Today, it is run by the fourth generation, who combine traditional knifemaking with modern industrial production techniques.

The Laguiole Jean Dubost range is made entirely in France. With the exception of a few tropical woods, all components, such as the steel and handles, are also sourced from France. At the factory, raw steel (AISI 420 standard with HRC 52/56 hardness) is transformed into a razor-sharp, mirror-polished blade in a nine-step process. 1.5 million Laguiole steak knives are produced annually, almost half of which are destined for export.
